Whitegrass (open winters only)
From Northlake cabin… turn south on Route 32 and go approximately 3.5 miles. Take a left on Route 37/1 and go approximately 1.5 miles to Whitegrass.

OWNER’S SUGGESTED ATTRACTIONS
Ride the ski lift, summer and fall. Time required from Northlake Cabin: 2 hours
Both Timberline and Canaan Ski areas operate lifts during the summer and fall for $7.00 per ride. Take Route 32 south from Northlake Cabin 4.5 miles south to Timberline or 5.5 miles south to Canaan on left.
Go to the Falls: Time required 1.5 hours
Drive 4.2 miles north just beyond Davis and take a left to Blackwater Falls State Park. Follow signs to the Falls.
Go to Dolly Sods
It’s 10,000 acres are a mecca for backcountry hikers. Not designed necessarily for casual hikers. Be prepared with compasses, topographical maps and proper attire.
Go canoeing on the Blackwater River: 3 – 6 hours
Drive 25 minutes to Parsons – Route 72 from Thomas
Ride Horses: 3 – 8 hours
Drive to Timberline 4.5 miles south on Route 32. Follow signs on left.
Ride Mountain Bikes
Call Blackwater Bikes to obtain information on various cycling venues or call Timberline Resort who also rents bikes.
Go to Whitegrass Touring Center (winters only)
Go cross country skiing or just have lunch because the food is great. 5 miles south (on the left).
Go Ice Skating
Available winters only at Canaan Valley Skate Park
Go to the Conservation Center, just 3.5 miles south on Route 32 on right. (just past the Exxon station) Review exhibits and request information on the best birding areas.
Go to Seneca Rocks:

South 13 miles to Harman, then 15 miles east on 33. Hike the top of the rocks or simply go to the visitors center. It’s worth the drive. Visit the School of Rockcraft.
Go to MountainMade
Located in Thomas just 3 miles north of Davis. Follow the signs and visit West Virginia artisan products. Shop other stores in Thomas while you are there. Go to the Purple Fiddle (love the coffee).
